Where every young person is known by name, by history, by dream.
Brave Spaces is a trauma-informed, relationship-based residential home for up to six youth, ages 12–18 (extended care to 21), with the most complex needs and the most disrupted placement histories.
A home, not an institution.
Brave Spaces is not a placement of last resort dressed up in nicer language. We are a home built deliberately for young people whose other placements have not worked.
Small by design
Six youth, intentionally. Every young person is deeply known. There is no getting lost in the shuffle.
Who we serve →Relationship is the intervention
Consistent, caring, boundaried relationships with trusted adults are the engine of healing and growth — not consequences, not compliance.
Our approach →Anti-racist and anti-colonial
Black, Indigenous, racialized, and 2SLGBTQ+ youth receive care that names and actively addresses the systems that have harmed them.
Cultural safety →Built for complex needs
Trauma, mental health, multiple placement disruptions, justice involvement, exploitation history — the youth no one else has been able to keep.
Population served →Seven commitments that shape every shift.
These aren't aspirational posters. They are the working agreements every staff member signs and is held to.
Belonging
Every youth is a full member of the Brave Spaces community from day one.
Relationship
The relationship is the intervention. Always.
Dignity
From medication administration to conflict, every interaction protects dignity.
